FAQ

frequently asked questions

What are paramedical and camouflage tattoos?

Paramedical and camouflage tattoos are specialized cosmetic tattoo procedures designed to improve the appearance of skin affected by scars, stretch marks, surgical procedures, burns, or pigmentation loss. These treatments help blend discoloration into the surrounding skin tone for a more natural appearance.

Who is a good candidate for camouflage tattooing?

Ideal candidates are individuals with fully healed scars or stretch marks (typically 12–18 months old), stable skin conditions, and realistic expectations. A consultation is required to determine eligibility.

What types of scars can be treated?

Camouflage tattooing can help improve the appearance of:

●  Surgical scars

●  C-section scars

●  Mastectomy scars

●  Self-harm scars

●  Burn scars

●  Stretch marks (striae)

Each case is evaluated individually.

Does camouflage tattooing remove scars?

No. This treatment does not remove scars, but it can significantly reduce their visibility by blending pigment into the surrounding skin tone.

How many sessions are required?

Most clients require 2–3 sessions, depending on skin type, scar texture, and how the pigment heals. Sessions are spaced 8–12 weeks apart.

Is the procedure painful?

Discomfort is minimal to moderate and varies by individual and treatment area. A topical numbing agent is used to enhance comfort.

Is camouflage tattooing permanent?

Camouflage tattoos are considered long-term, but fading can occur over time due to skin regeneration, sun exposure, and lifestyle factors. Touch-ups may be recommended.

What is areola restoration tattooing?

Areola restoration tattooing is a medical tattoo procedure that recreates the appearance of a natural areola and nipple using advanced shading and color-matching techniques, often following breast surgery or reconstruction.

Who is a candidate for areola tattooing?

Candidates include individuals who have undergone:

●  Mastectomy

●  Breast reconstruction

●  Breast reduction or augmentation

●  Gender-affirming surgery

●  Areola pigment loss

Surgical sites must be fully healed before treatment.

What is 3D areola tattooing?

3D areola tattooing uses artistic shading and highlight techniques to create the illusion of dimension and projection—without physical reconstruction.

How natural do the results look?

When healed, results are highly realistic and customized to your skin tone, anatomy, and preferences. Many clients find the results emotionally restorative.

How long does the procedure take?

Appointments typically last 1.5–3 hours, depending on whether one or both areolas are treated.

Is areola tattooing permanent?

Yes, but like all tattoos, gradual fading may occur. Touch-ups may be needed every few years to maintain color vibrancy.

Is paramedical tattooing safe?

Yes. Procedures are performed using medical-grade pigments, sterile equipment, and strict sanitation protocols. A full consultation and medical history review are completed prior to treatment.

What is the healing process like?

Initial healing takes about 7–14 days, with full pigment stabilization occurring over 6–8 weeks. Mild redness, swelling, and tenderness are normal during the first few days.

What aftercare is required?

Clients must follow detailed aftercare instructions, including:

●  Keeping the area clean and dry

●  Avoiding sun exposure

●  No swimming, sweating, or saunas during healing

●  Applying approved healing ointments only

Are there any risks or contraindications?

Certain conditions may prevent treatment, including:

●  Active skin infections

●  Pregnancy or breastfeeding

●  Uncontrolled diabetes

●  Keloid scarring tendencies

●  Certain autoimmune disorders

These are reviewed during consultation.

Is a consultation required?

Yes. A private consultation is required for all paramedical and areola tattoo services to assess skin condition, scar maturity, and treatment suitability.

Do you accept insurance?

Paramedical tattooing is considered an elective service and is not typically covered by insurance. However, some clients may seek reimbursement independently.

Will my privacy be respected?

Absolutely. All services are performed with discretion, compassion, and trauma-informed care in a private setting.
